Zac Herman over at The West Lake Review [site not up right now and sadly missed!] recently found a copy in the library at L’Espace in Hanoi of the French edition of Nguyễn Khắc Viện and Hữu Ngọc’s massive sampler of Vietnamese literature that I wrote about in my last entry. According to the inscription on the title page, that copy was presented by Hữu Ngọc to the French Ambassador in 1988.
Zac’s photo of the title page reveals a rather storied list of Vietnamese translators for the French edition, including the poet Xuân Diệu.
He also recently paid a visit to No. 5 Bat Dan and posted about the bookshop (and his purchases).
